Jewish music between Classic, Jazz and Klezmer

Colalaila stands for Jewish music between Classic, Jazz and Klezmer. The group was founded in 1986 by former member and clarinettist Irith Gabriely. From that day forward they toured whole Europe. The visit of Colalaila to the most significant Klezmer-Festival in Zefrat/Israel proved to be landmark events in the development of the ensemble. For her first appearance Irith Gabriely was awarded first price for soloists in honour of her virtuoso performance in 1991. Second, in 1992, she finally teamed with the musicians she has ever since had the pleasure to perform with: Barbara Witzel, Martin Wagner, Hanso Malolepssy. These four artists continue to appear with great success.
